@44jeanette44 Sherlock Holmes was the first to say it since the quote Spock took was from something published in 1890.

@AllHailAkemi Me too. I nearly leapt out of my chair with utter glee. XD

@2010JEProductions Data used this quote in TNG Episode 7

Thanks this is what I was looking for :)
“When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.” Arthur Conan Doyle, Sr. quotes

Charlie X is NOT aweful.
Charlie is really cute, in a terrifying sort of way, and the story is simply fascinating. I feel sorry for the poor kid.

@44jeanette44 it's 100% for sure a Sherlock Holmes quote. He said it for the first time in a book called "The sign of the four" written in 1890 by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Since Star Trek was created in 1966, it's not possible to be Spock's. Trust me, I'm crazy about Sherlock (and Spock, of course), and yeah, great minds are absolutely alike <3
I believe Spock also used that quote in "The Undiscovered Country", but he preceded that quote by saying "An ancestor of mine maintained..." which seems to suggest that Arthur Conan Doyle is an Earthly ancestor of Spock.

That's just great. It helps Spock be more awesome, somehow.

YAY!!! That's a Sherlock Holmes quote!!! I'm a manic Sherlock Holmes and Star Trek fan, and having Spock saying a Holmes' quote just filled me with absolute fangirlish glee *___*

I didn't know that was Sherlock Holmes...and I'm actually not sure who said it first, Spock or Holmes. Just proves that great minds think alike, right?
