Here it is. While i said before that Rundas is my favorite hunter, Gandrayda is my favorite to fight out of the three hunters.
Let me start by stating something. I recorded the next boss fight directly after this one, so i was not aware that the audio de-synched until after it was too late. In order to do this awesome fight justice, i put music over the fight and muted the original fight's audio.
The songs i used in order as you hear them are:
Gandrayda Boss Theme OST, Zero-G, Dark Shapeshifter
All music belongs to Nintendo.
However, Zero-G and Dark Shapeshifter were made by Hauntershadow, so i am giving him credit accordingly. I will give the links at the end of the description.
In Hypermode difficulty, Gandrayda takes very long to kill due to her constant moving around. This fight alone took about 8-10 minutes to do, the longest of the three hunter fights.
Gandrayda herself is an interesting fight. It consists of three phases. The first phase starts off as you are still in the elevator. Gandrayda's patterns consist of jumping around throwing electric buzz saws at you. These are fairly easy to avoid and you can shoot them done in one shot.
She will also jump towards you and do one of two actions:
1. She will land and send out an easily avoidable shotwave that travels on in a straight line.
2. She will jump onto you and start twisting your neck causing constant damage. Shaking her off will also cause her to lose balance when she lands.
And interesting note, in her regular form, if you hit her with a fully charged shot when she isn't jumping around, she will fall to the ground giving you about 2-3 seconds to damage her.
As we know, Gandrayda is a shapeshifter so she will be changing form. In the first phase, these forms consist of:
1. Berserker Knight
2. Armored Aerotrooper
3. A swarm of Swarmbots
The Berserker Knight handles almost identically to the Berserker Lord, so i won't bother explaining that.
The Armored Aerotrooper should be obvious as you face plenty up to this point.
The Swarmbots however, are very different from the ones you have seen before, either normally or when facing Helios. The Swarmbots will simply fly around in a group trying to run into you and are rather easy to avoid. A little known fact though, is that you can use the X-Ray visor to target and attack the main Swarmbot (the one that is the actual Gandrayda) for extra damage.
After getting through the first phase, the second phase starts when Gandrayda snaps her fingers.
You have reached the top of the elevator and Gandrayda has opened the roof, exposing the outer edges of the arena to damaging Acid Rain.
In this phase, Gandrayda in her base form remains the same as before. However, she changes up what she can morph into. In the second phase, Gandrayda will now morph periodically into the other two hunters, Rundas and Ghor. In these forms, they handle exactly like the actual fights you had with them, so i am not explaining them either. Gandrayda may also morph back into the Berserker Knight rarely.
After causing sufficient damage, you will put Gandrayda into phase 3 of the fight, and also perhaps, the most climactic and epic.
During this phase, Gandrayda will transform, exclusively, into....YOU! She will transform into Samus wearing the Varia Suit. (It's Metroid Fusion all over again! =O)
In this form, Gandrayda will use a sweeping beam attack similar to Ghor's plasma beam attack. She will also use a more powerful form of the Boost Ball (though not nearly as dangerous as the Boost Guardian in MP2). Both of these are easily avoided. Gandrayda will also release a shock wave when you get too close to her. During this phase, Gandrayda, in her base form, will start to implement her own Hypermode. During this time, she will move and jump a lot faster while still releasing more powerful buzz saws. During this time, she kind of goes into a new sub-phase (i say this because i count phases by cinematics) In which she will remain in her base form. During this time, when she isn't in hypermode, she will use her personal cloaking field. She becomes invisible and you must use the X-Ray visor to target and damage her. Keep in mind that Gandrayda will NEVER be invisible AND in hypermode.
As you keep damaging her, you will finally defeat Gandrayda and see the saddest death of a hunter yet as she reaches out to you as you. For defeating Gandrayda, you are awarded the Grapple Voltage upgrade.
A interesting note. Although this was lessened in Metroid Prime Trilogy, Gandrayda is incredibly weak, even in Hypermode difficulty, to the Screw Attack. She takes incredible damage from it albeit being hard to hit with it.
We have defeated the shapeshifter Gandrayda. I am sure now that we won't be talking to anymore strangers.
Funny how things work huh? The music actually synched beautifully with the video.

@FUNTclan Gandrayda's theme is a remix of the Chykka theme from Echoes, hence the similarities you noticed.

@Hauntershadow That explains it. Thanks for clearing that up. Funny, i never noticed the Chykka theme in the Gandrayda theme. You think i would have considering how crazy i am about Metroid music

hey, do you hear the adult chykka theme in here? You can hear it at parts.
FUNTclan 6 months ago
@FUNTclan That is a possibility, though in his videos to his mixes in this video, Hauntershadow doesn't state that he used the Adult Chykka theme.
Personally, i don't really hear it ^^;
