"Tarzan and the Mermaids" was Johnny Weissmuller's sixth RKO film, and his twelfth as Tarzan. It was directed by Robert Florey in 1948 and also starred Brenda Joyce as Jane; Linda Christian as Mara; George Zucco as Palanth; John Laurenz as Benji; and Fernando Wagner as Varga.
This clip was taken from a documentary called "Tarzan at the Movies" (1996) and the enjoyment of the trailer is marred by the narrator's commentary. I plan to replace this clip with an untainted copy of the trailer when I find it. If you can help me out with this please drop me a line.

The woman who played Mara was the second wife of Tyrone Power. They had 2 daughters Taryn & Romina Power

Brenda Joyce looks delightfully leggy as Jane in this film, though Weissmuller is badly out of shape in his last Tarzan film.
The octopus battle was a good idea but it should have been employed in an earlier film when Weissmuller was in better shape. Had the underwater battle been lengthened, it could have rivaled the epic crocodile battle in Tarzan and His Mate.

This person is informing us that they have just learned that Brenda Joyce, who played Jane in this film, died on 23 July 2009. She had appeared in three other Tarzan films before this one - "Tarzan and the Amazons", "Tarzan and the Leopard Woman", and "Tarzan and the Huntress". She was retained by RKO when Johnny Weissmuller quite the series and appeared in their next film, "Tarzan's Magic Fountain", with Lex Barker. This made her the only actress to work with two Tarzan's as Jane.
