  • ok, thanks... what length would you recomend for a cigar box strum stick?

  • I really like 22" myself, but I've made them as long as 30". It depends on what tuning you want and how fancy you want to play. The shorter scale makes it easier to do more complicated chords and such, and you end up with a higher tuning with standard dulcimer strings. God bless. :)

  • what's your scale length from nut to bridge?

  • Probably 22", but I"m not certain. That was quite a while ago.

  • what'd you tune the strings to?

  • DAD, just like a dulcimer but backwards ;)

  • Thanks. I am making a cigarbox strum stick and i'm planning on tuning it to DAD and using mandolin strings(trying to make an imitation grand strumstick) and if have any more pointers please feel free to share them.
