On a Boat in Pleiku Vietnam

On our third day in Kon Tum we took the motorbikes to a big lake in Pleiku. We haven't really seen many large lakes here in Vietnam so far so it was a beautiful new sight. Our friend inquired about taking a boat around the lake and a few minutes later we were climbing aboard what looked like an old fishing boat. To be quite honest I immediately began thinking about what I would do if it sank. Our captain was a young man probably about 18 joined by his friends. He had to use a crank to start the engine and after a few turns it started blowing black smoke and shuttered to a start. We had a safe trip around the lake (despite the obvious dangers of the exposed engine) and had a great time!
