2) Read the cafe newspaper for free when you have your one cup of
coffee per week.
3) Catch the Link bus insteading driving into town: $3.20 for return
trip much cheaper than parking.
4) Use budget airlines: we got AKL to WLG for $49.00: who needs a cup
of tea on a 45 minute flight.
5) Scour jumbo bins outside renovation projects in old suburbs for
untreated timber to burn.
6) Get a compost bin and worm farm for free fertiliser for growing vegetables.
8) Find a friendly retired engineer neighbour to do your odd jobs at a
cheap rate.
9) Do you homework and find the best broadband,phone package for you.
Get naked DSL if you don't need a home phone.
10) Collect pine cones from public parks for kindling.
11) Collect fruit on branches overhanging public spaces.
12) Get help exchange tradesmen: we have used a brilliant cabinet
maker from Italy several times.
13) Make sure you have a side income, if you get the boot you might be
able to crank it up full time.
14) Check if you are eligible for a tax refund taxrefund.co.nz.
15) Rent out your driveway during the day for carparking. LIke gold in
inner city suburbs. CHeck out gumtree.co.nz.
