Ever wonder what I do behind the scenes when I update my website? The process is very time-consuming (it can take as much as even 40 hours' worth of work) and it basically involves 4 distinct parts. There are 17 stages as depicted in this 2-hour-long video series, one segment for each stage. Stages 3 through 7, however, are oddballs since stages 3 and 7 span over 10 minutes, 6 being almost 20. Here's what each of the 4 parts and 17 stages are:
Part 1: Headlines
Stage 1: Some notes and creating templates
Stage 2: Typing the headlines
Stage 3: Processing photos
Stage 4: Formatting tables
The headlines are my top favorite part of the update. The main reason is that I'm more "free" - I'm not copying off my notes. The headlines involve the top section of my website's blog, not the daily entries (these are covered in part 3). Stages 3 and 4, in a way, are the same as 2, but they are, in a way, separate.
Part 2: Dream journal
Stage 5: Setting up the dream journal
Stage 6: Typing in the dream details
Stage 7: Filling in the ratings bar
Stage 8: Finalizing the dream journal
I dream in 32-bit color (in a sense). My dream journal is semi-favorite, as I'm mostly just copying details. It quickly becomes a favorite when I've got a high favorite or even an extreme favorite dream mixed into it. A semi-favorite is when the compatibility (the nature rating) is from 6 to before 25. A favorite is from 25 to before 100. A high favorite is from 100 to before 400. An extreme favorite is anything 400 or higher (and this is very rare, especially outside the "fun" category where most of my most-recalled dreams are). I also often recall my dreams to a level of detail that makes it seem as if I watched a movie and was just copying details of everything, in textual form. The "Amazon Tribal Region Fun" dream is, as of July 25, 2008, the most recalled dream of all (and there's 2 or 3 others that are close contenders.
Part 3: Daily entries
Stage 9: Setup and templates
Stage 10: Doing the times
Stage 11: Clearing time flags
Stage 12: Typing the daily entries and any extra headlines
The daily entries are the most boring. To counter this, I often watch TV and make progress during the mostly-useless ads (and spam as I sometimes call them (certain ones though)). The daily entries involve a lot of copying, but I do have a major favorite part during stage 9, the part where I say "one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, spare". This, after the colorful text screens, is my top favorite part of the entire video. I also put in the day numbers very quickly, thanks, in part, to my hypercount ability (the repeated action version that is). I struggled a bit during stage 11, but this is expected as sometimes, things get really weird.
Part 4: Finalizing
Stage 13: Finalizing the headlines
Stage 14: Finalizing the update
Stage 15: Uploading new/updated files
Stage 16: Testing the headlines
Stage 17: Testing the dream journal
Finalizing, uploading, and testing are also essential. The part about entering the username and password for the uploading part has, intentionally, been left out (the reason for the sudden stop in my speaking). Also, when you look around, you often won't see bugs or oddities outside the occasional misspelling or typo in the text (a class 0 bug usually, rarely 1). In this video, you can see just what kinds of bugs I had. The "case of missing screenshots" took nearly 12 minutes to finally figure out and thus I've chopped out most of it. There were some others as well. I'm not concerned much over typos and spelling errors in my website as these are often quite rare and I often catch them before the uploading itself starts.

They were ready to go on Jul 25 or so. I'm just now uploading them because I no longer have the 100% CPU usage issue. I'm doing WAV to MP3 conversions (for test subjects) while I'm uploading. Before the ZA update was released, I couldn't do this. If 6 MB was uploaded, then my system has essentially hard-froze and I can't use Task Manager to terminate vsmon which means I have to use the reset button. The problem is resolved now.

Did you make these videos earlier, but just upload them now because of your computer problems?
