    As much as I'd love to see a good film on WWI, I am somewhat put off by the patriotism this film seems to have. As a Canadian, I remember growing up hearing about how WWI shaped us as a nation, and all that, but in reality it was nothing more than the senseless slaughter of millions of young men for the right to either colour bits of the globe pink or grey. We were not the good guys, nor the bad, just participants in a stupid mess that should never have happened.

    Though I've never seen the film, this looks awfully close to glorifying the First World War, which is like trying to make the war in Iraq look like a noble fight for freedom and liberty. See what I did there?
