Why are there so few spectators?

The tournament is a week long event. The first part of the clip is of some of the lowest ranked groups during a weekday morning. Later in the evening, about 10,000 fans show up the see the highest ranked groups of wrestlers' bouts (seen towards the end of the clip)

@Smartathanyou He is giving the introduction of the wrestler's names in the traditional manner. Sumo is all about tradition. You will also see the wrestlers purify the ring by tossing salt in it, and the traditional sumo stomp is to ward away bad spirits.

These are not amateur. All Ozumo is professional.

Yes, sorry, I meant to say they are similar to what in the U.S. we would call "minor league" divisions; professionals trying to work their way up to the highest level.
