@MultiBelle22 1870s - 1880s. The dresses reached the maximum width with the invention of crinolines from the classical column shape in 1800, so they had to find something elso to do with the skirt, I guess.
I'll stop being a costume nerd now. It's a hobby.

@lmhfantasy I think it's because if she turned up in the same dress, the stepmother and stepsisters would have immediatley recognised her. They didn't recognise her in the threads the godmother put her in, and it makes the audience feel excited for her being right under their noses and shmoozing with the prince whilst they spent the rest of the ball probably bored and disappointed. And of course, helps lead to the main climax of the film when the stepmother realises and locks her up.

I think this dress was a lot prettier than the blue dress. Why couldn't the fairy godmother have fixed it instead of having her wear the blue one. But if she had worn it to the ball instead of the blue one, do you think the prince still would have picked her to marry him?

oh no she didn't just call her a "kitchen wench?" that's not nice at all! not good for little virgin kids' ears.

cinderella looks scary at 0:36.
The stepsisters make such a fuss about what they're gonna wear, but end up wearing what they usually do anyway -_-

She should have changed the locks when they left. Let the bitches sleep outside with the other dogs.
