A couple minutes after the Sykora goal, the Devils score on the power play. Petr Sykora passes the puck down low to Bobby Holik who one times a pass in front which Jason Arnott deflects home for his 2nd goal of the game and a 7-1 lead!

As much as I loved the A-Line (one of the best lines of all time), breaking it up won us another cup in 2003. Were all spoiled. But yes we need a playmaker and another elite defenseman if we are to advance further next season. Show some respect to Lou, we have made the playoffs 11 straight seasons, 3 cups, 4 finals appearances, not too shabby.

i guess rebuilding in New Jersey is different than other teams in teh league. Division title and playoff appearances still keep flooding in.

Really, the came close to losing? The 2000 team also did in the conference finals against Philly. I understand you're trying to make a point but how can you look at the negatives in a Cup winning season?

he has my respec, but he's losing it and fast. the game is different now and like brodeur said the league is watered down b/c of so many teams. back in 95 a 4th line player on the devils was making almost as much as a top line guy, but you can't do that anymore.

And while those guys won another cup in 03, they also came close to losing. Imo that team should have won in 01 as well, but the officials were giving a lot of slack to colorado since it was the last season for bourque.
