I used a WWII Eyemo 35mm motion picture camera to capture the Warbirds launching off of the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70) off of Oahu, Hawaii in August of 1995.

This was an event sponsored by the Navy to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the end of WWII. Three B-25's, two Corsairs, a Wildcat, a Grumman Albatross and other Warbirds were launched from the deck.

What an honor to have been a part of this incredible event. My sincere thanks go to Lynn Hunt for giving me this wonderful opportunity.

  • @kkstoja16 that and the 40+ mph of winds the Vinson was creating for the take-off.

  • The intro screen reads, "USS Carl Vincent" instead of "Vinson".

  • tjis b-25 was clearley without bombs and so many fuel couse it takes off at the quarter of the runway

  • Wow. I helped Carl Scholl of Aero Traders get this thing into ferry condition in Ramona, CA back in 1978. Really love to see it doing it's thing, here.

  • Thank you for posting this. I was stationed on the Vinson from 1992-96. I was on the flight deck when this was shot.

  • I was stationed aboard the good ol Chucky V during this time. Shop II, 69B/C, from 93-96.

I was on the forward flight deck (Spot One) along with hundreds of others and watched the parade of vintage birds fly off the angle deck with no CAT.

Those of you from AIMD/IM3 would have known me if you worked nightcheck.

  • i was born in 1995

  • I was there that day as well. I was happy to see that the navy let the nose art slide for one of the bombers lol. Nice...

  • I have the whole launch of all the WWII aircraft on video. In your video I am the driver of the P-16 (fire truck for non Navy personnel) that you see at the end of the crowd. That was where I was sitting when I shot the video. Very nice video, Salute!
