The New York Times reports today that President Bush will try to temper the political blowback of his veto of expanded stem cell research by offering a new proposal in its place, but also notes that the new proposal is "largely symbolic," "has no money attached," and that two leading stem cell researchers said the recent work was no substitute for embryonic stem cell research. Democratic Caucus Chairman Rahm Emanuel spoke on the floor about the veto and proposal.

  • Rahm Emanuel is the Anti-Christ.

  • Obama hints that ONLY embryos resulting from fertilization therapies will be used in government funded programs. Is that a promise.

Obama says we need to compete with nationally funded embryonic stem cell research doing overseas. How well are they doing?

    See youtube /watch?v=uDEDHxj8A9E

for 2 examples of children who have been cured of cerebral palsy with reinfusion of their own cord blood stem cells

    No embryos were destroyed.

  • rahm - You are a typical dumocrat, twisting the true facts to fit your own political agenda. OK, DS, show all of us where ESCR has cured anyone! Remember, the USA is not the only country that is performing ESCR...And those countries, like Korea, are, theoretically, well ahead of us.

  • ron - I think you have been mis-informed on the veto. Go to the following YouTube site, "Tony Snow on Embryonic Stem Cell Veto" to understand exactly what President Bush was doing. As for the Iraq war...we can cover that later.

  • he veto's stem cell research, and starts an unnecessary war. bush is simply a mass murderer. and then he claims he is moral leader.

  • ron - I'm trying to figure-out your series of logical steps in your statement above. You start talking about the lack of organ donors, then parkinson's disease, then alzheimer's disease, then people dying needlessly and then you jump to some 700,000 dead iraqis. What was your point?

  • Thats not all buddy boy. National/Universal Health care Legaliztion of Marijuana, Global warming & Future poleshifts whcih could both be cured by science..You know what I don't have myself to you. You work for the RNC and John Ensign..So just go away fool.

  • 6,200 people die each year for lack of organ donors.

over 50,000 new cases of parkinson's disease a year.

over 350,000 cases of alzheimer's disease a year.

countless other cases where people will either die needlessly or live lives of utter misery.

go bush! and add another 700,000 dead iraqis on your conscience. show the world your moral leadership...

579 days left until bush is forced from office.

  • For chrissake, S1 has cerebral monosynaptic pathology characterized by dullness of expression and shallowness of thought. He's a two factor polemic: Impeachment and illegal war.

  • In the same token, the Iraqi conflict has left thousands upon thousands dead and maimed for a deliberate lie that we were facing imminent attack by WMD.

In the dictionary there should be a picture of Bush under "Hypocrite"
