  • Lose the music, or turn it down, it's REALLY DISTRACTING- the speech is more important than the soundtrack here!

  • The youth in Europe + elsewhere is far more politically engaged than the youth in America. It didn't used to be this way. Nowadays most of our universities are nothing but corporate job training centers, depending on corporate money, and the results are obvious. All the humanities are under-funded, and purposely so: they contribute to critical thinking skills. This is precisely what will happen everywhere, if people do not fight back. I'm in solidarity with the Students in the UK.

  • Can I get a ling to the original speech?

  • @jonbernal534 but that's the thing, the problem is not the lack of education, more and more people are receiving at least a basic education. The problem I have with such movements is that we try to blame our misfortunes on those who are better of and claim things like "share the wealth" seriously? why not just move to a communist country then. The reason the united states is what it is today is because of laws that benefit and stimulate business.

  • @jonbernal534 The Humanities contributed to critical thinking by including various philosophies, without preference, by simply laying out different kinds of thoughts. The reason why the 99% are perhaps fucktards, is that neither philosophy nor world-history is even addressed in our educational systems anymore. When 'education' becomes merely job-training, it ceases to be educational. There will always be individual interests versus the common good. The key is to find the balance between them

  • @55ella2007k How does Humanities contribute to critical thinking? Please, its not a matter of what you teach in the schools, its the fact that "the 99%" are a bunch of fucktards. Everyone wants to find someone to blame, but in reality its Us that have become mentally weak. If you really want to make a change stop help, and start changing yourselves.

  • @ModernLiberalParty I thought the music was dope, it gave me goosebumps!

    You're dope too MLP! :)

  • @55ella2007k not any more Occupywallstreet!

  • @oidunno88 that should read ' ...a system where those who are not clever or fortunate enough to attend...'

  • no i have a problem taking lectures from a trust fund establishment brat.. it is rank hypocrisy. Well done for finally making a substantive point by the way.

To address your point. Only 40% of UK children get to go to university. These protesters are campaiging for a system where those who are not clever or fortunate enough to not attend must pay through tax for a lucky minority to receive what is a truly life and career affirming privilege. That is not equitable, morally or ethically.
