Hi Susan, just been to your website, your art is breathtakingly beautiful. I had no idea that there are so many colours. amazing

@susanjenkins777 I will definitely give them a try, I have just taken up the brush as in the last three months. The last time I painted was about fourteen. However I don't want to limit myself to just one medium and I will check your website later today as it is almost one in the morning. Thank you for explaining it to me

@ocossa Thank you "Ocossa". These are actually "soft pastels" though. And I love working with them. They are my favorite medium. :) Blessings!!! susan

@susanjenkins777 I know this may seem like a silly question, however; here goes...Is there a drying time with this form of medium?

@ocossa
There is never a silly question Ocossa as far as I'm concerned. I have learned all I know from asking lots of "silly" questions. Pastels are a dry medium. That is one of the reasons I started working with them. My life was so crazy as a mom and always being pulled in so many directions that I found they were always there waiting for me to work with and wouldn't dry up. I have some more info on pastels on my website if you want to check it out susanjenkinsart.weebly.com

@susanjenkins777 Thank you Susan for the information, I tried with oil pastels just the other day, and did I make a mess. I found the oil pastels so unforgiving, once the mistake was made everything just went pear shaped, I will look at the other pastels that you use and I think I'll take it a little easier next time

@ocossa Oil pastels are messier I think than soft pastels. But if you try soft pastels try them on "sanded" paper. There are special papers for pastels that allows you to get a lot of layers without the colors getting muddy. I took up art again after a long break of many years. Like you I was artistic as a child, but it was just in the past 9 yrs or so that I took up painting. I learned almost all I know from other artists on a site called wetcanvas. You might like it! :) Blessings!
