What I'd like to know is - as a lesbian citizen, who the hell can I talk to about suing the US government to get reimbursed for the tax dollars of mine that went towards defending this piece of shit discriminatory legislation?

I think we can do both. And maybe gay marriage is the least of your concerns because it doesn't affect you. For people who are denied equal rights it's very important.

They don't dictate who you can fall in love with. They dictate whether you can marry that person. But I agree with you.

so if ultimately it is not struck down, does this mean more religious beliefs are going to stop creeping into our system and break the damn? as well as, will i be forced to have a gay marriage now? if not, what is the argument they are defending about my straight marriage, in other words what, in my marriage, are they defending or are they spending all this time and my tax dollars defending a word for corporations, e.g. insurance, financial, to save them a negligible $ amount?

I guess we're different then. As a leftist the rights of the oppressed are always my greatest concern.

Yep. If Scalia and company meddles with their patented 5-4 b.s. Then frankly the US Government as a co-equal branch should tell SCOTUS to go fuck itself.

Anyone who seriously thinks that Scalia, Roberts, Thomas or Alito believe in states rights except in those matters they support, is a fool, see Bush v. Gore. Kennedy will almost certainly hold for Roman Law marriage (the Bible supports multi-wife marriage, one-man one-women comes from Roman law). There is serious precedent for the Federal government controlling marriage definitions. Utah was banned from entering the union until Polygamy was banned. That said, I hope I'm wrong.
