Parasuram Express Train No: 6349 is an express train run by Indian Railways connecting Mangalore, Karnataka with Thiruvanthapuram, Kerala. It is also known by the name of Day Express as it traverses the full length of the Kerala State during the day time. The train derives its name from the legend of mythical character Parasurama,an incarnation of Lord Vishnu who is considered as creator of Kerala and Konkan Coast from the sea. This video clip which I took this morning at the Calicut railway station shows the train leaving for Trivandrum after an extended 10 minutes (normally 5 minutes) stay at platform 1 of Calicut station.

Actually this train is quite good for travelling short distances 100-150km. Used by the working class people to a great extent.(thats why its crowded)
No point comparing this to the mum raj. First of all they run on different routes. If the mum raj were to run in kerala its average will also be low. Secondly both trains are to satisfy a different need.

The one going to TVM is 6348 and not 6349. Mostly this one departing for Mangalore, since the one for TVC departs at 19:10. As such it covers lunatic asylum night time. 6349 departs Calicut at 15:45 and covers lunatic asylum day time.
Traveling by this train is a nightmare. 15 hours just to cover 634 KM and one of the most crowded trains. And 46 halts !!! In almost same time, Mumbai Rajdhani covers 1384 KM. This train good for sight seeing at leisure.
