In 1939 it didn't cost 25 cents to go to a Sat afternoon matinee... it cost 5 cents, and most kids couldn't afford to cough up the extra 10 cents to buy popcorn
Ah... Sat. Matinees! Double features and all the extras for 25cents popcorn 15c. Sometimes I would watch the whole thing twice. My haven away from home and stepfather from hell.
Buck Rogers with Buster Crabbe....a Republic serial. Go to the back of the theater and sit with the girls. This one was released in 1939 by the "New Universal" one year after "Flash Gordon's Trip to Mars." Universal thought they should give the original Space Hero a plug after being neglected for so long. The film was later edited into a feature, "Planet Outlaws."
I wish I knew why, but I'm in love with Buster Crabbe. XD

Remember, it was stuff like this was inspired George Lucas to make Star Wars.

This was NOT a Republic Serial. It was a Universal serial, as was Flash Gordon.

Absolutely corny stuff, but I love it. Any full-length episodes available?
