  • "sorry i want to use chinese" that's hot

  • the interviewer isn't being rude. leehom's 2005&2007 CDs are described as "chinked out" albums b/c they blend hip hop with traditional chinese instruments (ie. the erhu). Leehom coined the term "chinked-out" himself

  • @rillywoop Probably but which part? I never said I was completely right. Would you care to explain and point out?

  • @Rab1975bit you are so wrong.

  • Tony Leung's eyes!

  • @WinnieNotThePooh

give us a break! he says 'sound like'! i grew up in the south too and the southern way of pronouncing mandarin does sound LIKE Taiwanese. i can tell the difference but they do sound alike. so they do.

  • really ..who told u..

  • "Southern accentS do sound similar to Taiwanese accents." Sorry,I don't think so.Since I was grown up in southern China.Ask any person from mainland China whether they can detect an Taiwanese accent.I bet they will tell you yes.

  • Yes, MAINLAND Cantonese accent counts because they do speak Mandarin as their second language (the official language).

But Hong Kong Cantonese accent does NOT count because Mandarin is Not officially spoken in Hong Kong.

Southern accentS (more than one just for your info) do sound similar to Taiwanese accents.

China is a big country, Mandarin is spoken with different accents in different parts of China. It would be weird if every single person sounded the same.

  • A southern accent? Does a Cantonese accent count? Honestly I just feel it that way. There are a lot young people from mainland trying to adopt the accent after watching too much tv shows made in Taiwan.

  • If you have Chinese parents and you were born and brought up in an English-speaking country.

Your first language is still more likely to be Chinese because the first people you learn to speak from are your parents, then you learn English when you start going to school and interacting with other non-Chinese speaking kids.

  • It's a Southern accent.

Southern accent sounds like Taiwanese accent. The R, Sh and Zh are not pronounced as prominently in the South.

Not everyone in China speaks with a Beijing accent. There are more than one accent in China.

It's like most American think there are only two accents in England... Posh and Cockney. LOL!!
