Founded in 1864, in the midst of the Civil War in the United States, the Windsor gunpowder plant produced black powder and essential element of explosives. Until 1922, this dangerous industry was the economic motor of the city of Windsor, Quebec. Now we can discover the secrets, the how and why of this manufacturing process through a permanent interactive exhibit, and guided visits that take the form of a dramatization, to the 56 buildings that composed the factory site. For nature enthusiasts, the park also offers ecological discoveries and delights. A personal welcome and souvenir boutique and picnic area round out the pleasures of the visit.
