THE LEAF is a "micro-short, film experiment."

While shooting EINSTEIN'S DREAMS a few months back, I stumbled upon a still-image sequence (featuring Reid Cox) that became my favorite moment in the film.

While shooting video footage, I also grabbed some digital still images with my trusty Nikon Coolpix L19—a pocket camera I've been carrying around since last October. I assembled the photos sequentially (after some manipulation in iPhoto) in post. Though not stop-motion animation...think LA JETEE...er, a slide show.

For THE LEAF, I shot the still images (also with the gracious Ms. Cox as my subject) with an old, Olympus 35mm camera I found in a camera bag in the basement.

The result is (I hope) a fascinating experiment in "found camera" filmmaking.

you should try to get a new recording device, and record your voice in a closet, of sorts. The fuzz in the background kinda takes you out of the feel, y'know?
