Manic Street Preachers - The Vanishing Of Richey Manic (Part 2)

This is the infamous documentary about the disapperance of Manic Street Preachers guitarist/lyricist Richey Edwards, who left his car at the Severn Bridge on 1st February 1995 and hasn't been seen since.

The documentary contains lots of talking heads who have nothing in common with the Manics, most strangely Boy George and Shaun Ryder. There's also a rare appearance from Deborah Curtis, wife of Joy Division lead singer Ian Curtis, who took his own life in 1980.

Visually, the whole thing looks like a Most Haunted episode and seems to portray Richey as a dark, horrific, troubled soul. Sound wise, scary ambience is prominent throughout.

As open minded, liberal and non judgemental as I am, its embarrassing that the fanatics depicted in this programme could to the uninitiated make fans of the Manic Street Preachers as a whole appear to be a bunch of losers.

I think that when he (Richey) took his own life he wasn't planning to make it look like that he'd disappeared. That kind of happened coincidentally.
