  • What time of year was this? I was over in Croatia in August which is pretty much zero wind but there had been a pretty good blow the week before we got there. The Bura or Bora was the only concern I had during our two week charter. Fantastic people and sailing! Croatia is amazing country

  • Well, Bura is least strong during the summer. But even then, when necessary combination of meteo conditions happens (low in the Adriatic, ridge of east European high pressure), it can be very strong, even reach hurricane force. This was on March 12th 2006. Of course, Bura is strongest from autumn to spring. Strongest gust measured below Velebit massif was 307km/h! Imagine that :-)
