I love watching gymnastics, but I often feel bad for the gymnasts. This video is tragically ironic- Julissa Gomez, who can be seen training in this clip, hit her head while practicing a vault one year later and from that moment on was in a coma, living on a ventilator until passing away in 1991 at age 18. And Kristie Phillips, touted to be the "next Mary Lou" and whom everyone expected to win gold at the 1988 Olympics, did not even make the Olympic team, despite doing a great job at the Olympic trials.
