Gaura Purnima in Mayapur 2010 - Inauguration Festival

Once a devotee asked Srila Prabhupada that why he is insisting in devotees attending Mayapur festival. As the traveling costs in those days will be around $500, he said,íSrila Prabhupada, wouldnít be better if we use this money in preaching activities instead of buying flight tickets to Mayapurí. Srila Prabhupada replied that it would be even more better if we stop eating and save that money for preaching. In other words, Srila Prabhupada wanted his disciples to attend Mayapur festival, as it was very necessary for their progress in spiritual life. HH Bhakti Caitanya Swami in his inaugural speech quoted this anecdote of Srila Prabhupada and said that he has been attending the festival for the past 27 years. Lokanath Swami expressed that ISKCON would not be ISKCON,as we see now, without Mayapur , Vrindavan festivals.

In a colorful ceremony, after Guru Puja, HH Bhakti Vigna Vinasana Nrsimha Swami carried the flag to the lotus guesthouse park, with children parading with lamps and matajis carrying kalash,devotees doing harinam and chanting of vedic mantras . The Garuda flag was hoisted by HH Bhakti Caitanya Swami announcing the inauguration of Gaura Purnima festival 2010. Lokanath Maharaja performed arti to Srila Prabhupada.
