  • Hello, I have looked at all the methods for recording my guitar and amplifier and so far buying this sound card is the best option. Does this work with the Vox VT 20+ amplifier? and also can you plug your guitar directly into it?

    Luke.

  • Audiophile 2496 SUCKS! unless you dont use it on a windows7 64bit the damn thing is useless, it crackels on both channels when recording, and also has another issue which sounds like distortion on the left channel, i cant belief M-audio wont help anyone or even confirm the issues it has with windows7 64bit so that people dont go crazy wondering if its the monitors, i'd love to smack m-audio in the face.

  • i just want my subwoofer to bring out more bass because my onboard soundcard isn't even very good.

how do i manage that? is this audio-card good for that? it's a speedlink forza 2.1 subwoofer... i use other L+R speaker

  • Great review, good coverage of the capabilities. Can you just use it as a sound card, and connect your speakers to the analog outs, to get better sound than the PC's internal sound?

    Thanks...

    Jim

  • @MistaMase102 Balanced is only desirable for long cable runs; for a small home studio setup unbalanced is perfectly adequate, unless you are in the habit of having radio transmission devices sitting next to your system.

  • its pointless, you want balanced trs, you got unbalanced rca...waste o moneyyy

  • @dhruvdheen One other thing. Probably kinda obvious, but I should also mentioned that you may wish to search youtube (when you install those audio applications from the easy "software centre") these packages: ardour2, rosegarden, jack & hyrdogen. For example, i just searched & found a youtube channel called "metalz1000" with easy tutorials.

Lastly (& I promise I'll be quiet now LOL), you should also install "ubuntu restricted extras". Again youtube it. Accept any updates ubuntu offers you too.

  • @dhruvdheen You're welcome :)

Youtube's cool. So many people have helped me here & it's a pleasure to share what I've learnt here (& in my degree.)

You can give ubuntu (the plain version) a try by installing wubi.exe (google for it) on windows. You can then install from the easy "software centre" these packages: ardour2, rosegarden, jack & hyrdogen. But don't worry if you cant be bothered setting it up like that, because as I say, ubuntustudio 12.4lts has it all done for you. So remember april!

  • @TableWolfMusic so kind of you.. thanks for the reply.
