  • the coding behind this is amazing. first, there are no textures stored in the executable, they are generated from an algorithm. also, some of the camera paths were then generated by using the bits of the procedural textures as the input for their coordinates. and even the shadows were faked, there was no light calculation done on them, it was just due to another brilliant technique of overlaying a less-detailed mesh over the terrain, which created pockets of shading.

  • Incredible - the scenery looks almost photorealistic, yet it's only 4k... that's smaller than most games and apps from thirty years ago!

  • This is basically an amazingly small world generator. :O.

  • It's funny to think about, that this scene is storable on 4k, while Google is storing a video of it, that needs at least a thousand times more storage.. total waste of space ^_^ great job btw!

  • I came

  • jak już mówiłem: o kurwa i o ja pierdolę.

Przeczytałem prezentację z 'Function' i jeszcze bardziej mi mózg stanął sztorcem.

    Trudno to przebić.

  • @XeroXenith forget games, can anyone even finds a still image that can come close at 4k:S

  • I get a BEX error when executing it... :-( Any tips?

  • What's really amazing is that the video file is thousands of time larger than the file used to generate it!

  • @matthewdoucette

They aren't, its all done by and algorithm.

  • @matthewdoucette

They're not. Storing any of this ins 4k is impossible. I assume the exe is simply instructions for procedural generation.
