Can you tell me how you cut the width of the slat? I'm making slats for the first time from white ash and I cut parallel cuts with a skill saw. But from your video it appears that you have a better method.

Hi Bernie,

As you can see by watching the video, no skill saw was used.

I pound the length of the log in a wide area and simply grab a strip approximately 1.5 inches wide and pull up, repeat as necessary until you have 2,3,4,5,6 strips coming up simultaneously.

- so interesting to see - that way to make the splints! In Sweden (and Denmark) you have to use pine, and either split the wood with a knife or make chips with a plane.
