Can You Support Peace AND Support Our Troops?

This is an issue I actually struggle with. I do not and cannot support the occupation(remember, war was never actually declared.) So what does 'Support Our Troops' truely mean? Support what they're doing? No. Because they are doing what they are told, and I don't aggree with or TRUST their boss. Obviously I do not BLAME them for anything(i.e. The Occupation or its failure to be resolved), but I can only 'support' them as much as I do my dear friends and family that are republicans...

Support our troops by bringing them out of a war zone.
Support our troops by not spending their lives needlessly.
Ron Paul has the most contributions from military serving men and women (more than the other republican nominees put together) and has been the biggest advocator for bringing solders home. Doesn't that say something? (I'm not a complete fan of Ron Paul but I give credit for good ideas when I hear them.)

@CrazedCousinDougal Correction: Means to an Ends. (sorry, it's late and I am half asleep)

@CrazedCousinDougal A soldier's job is to effectively make himself obsolete. To deny the enemy capability and intent eliminates the threat of conflict. Thus it is not a strange thing for a soldier to desire peace. It is only the natural endstate of a job well done.
I also support peace because my friends are soldiers too. I do not want to see anything bad happen to them. If there is peace, I have nothing to worry about...

@CrazedCousinDougal I think it is important to support the troops because we simply are doing a role. That being said, a government should ensure that they never place us in unnecessary danger, and if necessary, to do it with the best support (resources, manpower and political will) possible. We are simply a tool of the government. If you wish to chastise anyone, it needs to be the government who decides upon warfare, rather than a soldier.

I have served for 8.5 years in my country's military. To me, being a soldier is important it because I value the opportunity I have to serve my country and community. I value that I can protect my country in times of war and offer assistance in times of disaster.
That being said, I would hope that we never fight a war. Not because I fear war, but simply because warfare is the last option when diplomacy fails. I see myself as an ends to a means, albeit not one that is should be a first option.

saclover,
I'm not sure you have an accurate definition of the word "liberal." If you go to my YouTube profile, you'll find the address of a webpage with dozens of accurate dictionary definitions of the word "liberal."
Also, what about great liberal US Presidents like FDR and JFK?
Thx 4 comment :-)
