2002 Nissan Maxima 6spd vs. 2004 Infiniti G35 Coupe 6spd

My 2002 Nissan Maxima 6-speed running a 2004 Infiniti G35 Coupe 6-speed. We ran at a 40mph roll.


Maxima weight situation: full tank, 1 passenger, sedan.

G35 weight situation: half tank, 2 passengers, coupe.


he got the jump by a little. by the time I was at 6400RPM in 4th, i was 2 cars back...and he slowed down right before I missed 5th.

-Berk Intake with AEM Dryflow filter

-Test Pipe
-Full suspension

i did powershift, but i didn't overrev any gear besides 5th gear and he had already put his brakes on before i shifted to 5th gear.

This was a drivers race basically obviously the G has the better driver think about this logically, they both have about the same amount of power and the max weighs less... I'm not hatin on g's I love them im just saying you need to learn how to drive that shit. My boy as a 2003 g35 sedan m/t I drive a 2k1 maxima with intake/headers and I always get a nose on him I'll post a video soon if you don't believe me

the G coupe weighs around 3400lb. and is rated at 280hp stock. the G sedan weighs around 3700lb. and is rated at 260hp stock, so don't brag about KEEPING UP with your "boy's" G sedan, especially when he is stock and you have intake and headers! i've ran 3 G sedans (2 6spd and 1 auto), and walked all 3 of them by 3-5 cars...they aren't that great.

why don't you run a G coupe, and when you lose, come back to me and then tell me if i really need to learn how to drive?

Ya but considering i have the 3.0 not the 3.5 i think thats pretty damn good.

considering that the 3.0 is rated at 222hp and you have intake and headers, so you are running about 240hp...compared to the 3.5's rated 255hp?

I've beaten a few G35 Coupes in my 02 6spd Maxima....but then again I got every mod that you can have on my Maxima....even kept up with a 2010 STI with CAI, exhaust and a tune...G35 is a great car too. I like the VQ engines.

The 2002-2003 6 Speed maximas are beasts, they could probably take a 2003-2004 G35 (i was surprised when you lost......) but in 05 with the power bump i dont think they would have a chance anymore.. Still, The 03 Maxima. I35 is my favorite body style and if i had to choose a 03 g35 over a 6spd 03 max i would probably pick the max depending on if the G was auto, sedan or coupe.

@hvyft45 idk man, my lightly modded sedan auto has walked several coupes. runs a 13.90@101+. it's a hard pill for me to swallow that you've walked sedans by 3-5 cars, but can't keep up with a coupe that only has test pipes (don't forget the weight of his extra passenger which negates any gain from that mod).

@IrishChris1979 Yea, i have seen some reviews on cars where they actually increase in speed as time goes on. I think it was a 328xi or 325. I just put 100k on my max and a tune up is seriously in order.

Yeah I agree... My g/f's sentra se-r has over 200k miles and it definitely feels slower than it did a couple of years ago. It's still going though.
