  • Is coughing up phlem one of the symptoms?

  • According to one of our infectious disease specialists, a typical cough from flu is a dry cough (no phlegm produced). However, there is a lot of variability and production of mucous is not that unusual.

    While a productive cough may or may not be associated with the flu, it certainly requires medical attention (and prompt antibiotics). If you are experiencing a productive cough, you should contact your primary care physician.
