What wasn't shown here were the clubs that presented before the PSS. Each took only about 5min to go through the committee. With maybe a 1min maximum description of their club. But if you watch this video (and part 2) it took the PSS more than 15min to go through the same process. Problems were raised with the other clubs' constitutions but the clubs were still sanctioned with the discretion to change those parts of their constitution. Committee members also had problems with the PSS' constitution, but we were not sanctioned.
1. If you watch the videos you will see that a Committee member questions the belief in the religion, but then goes back on her statement realizing what she had just insinuated. (5:30)
2. At around the 9:20 mark you can see that a Committee member gets irrationally upset. Why is this...it is MY belief that she is heavily biased, perhaps because she belongs to another religion and feels as if this is some sort of joke (which it is not). This makes us seriously question the validity of the motion against the PSS. Because of her beliefs she would not vote for us, this in turn could POSSIBLY cause other members to also decline fearing angering or hurting this member.
3. Other issues brought up with the constitution were extremely minor. Other clubs would easily be sanctioned by promising to amend those parts.
4. A major issue seemed to be our sincerity. Let me assure you, we are indeed sincere. And we can prove this no more than any other religion.
5. It is also my belief that the SU has a bias towards Jeremy Zaho. He has challenged the SU in the past many times. So they feel like he is not serious in this venture. This is not a fair argument for declining our club.
6. Let it be known that much of our constitution was derived from clubs ALREADY sanctioned by the University. Yet somehow they still found problems with it...why did they not catch this before? And why are they not trying to get the currently sanctioned clubs to fix this?
Finally we will in fact amend our constitution to all the changes they required. We will then present again, this time what excuses can they make? We will have followed their guidelines. We will see the true face of the University of Calgary's Students Union
@andrewingv why shouldn't he be calm? pastafarianism is as real as any other religion.
