My ps3 has been like this for like 4 months now.,. I try it every once in a while but always the same thing. Pretty sure my warrentys up. Im scared to mess with it though. What to do?

Thanks for the comment. The reason it's doing it is because some bright spark thought it wise to use lead free solder on the CPU. when the console over-heats it causes the solder to crack and cause dry joints.

The only way to remedy this is to do the solder re-flow trick, but this doesn't last for long, 3 months after you will be doing it again. I've done this twice myself and it does

work but not for long.You will need a little experience with electronics to carry out the re-flow trick. You will need to disassemble the ps3 right down to the motherboard. Its not to difficult, if you have a digital camera take a pic each time you take a component off to trace your steps. I just thought this would be a funny video to make. The ps3 in the film is working at the mo but when it fails again which it will, I will do a proper fix vid

Thanx for the comment. It was filmed as an April fool’s day joke, but next time it happens I will film how to fix it properly and upload a tutorial on the repair. Trouble is thou the solder re-flow fix only lasts for 3 to 6 months and it breaks down again.
