3 Acres of grass covered by spider webs the day after Halloween 2009. The whole 3 Acres that are cut on the property had a web blanket over it, it appeared that a Wolf spider hatch had happened and the adults laid this silk over the lawn to protect as well as trap in insects for their young to feed upon. I have witnessed, on alot smaller scale, webs of this nature while afield in the past but nothing of this size.

  • I wonder how big the spider is? o.O

  • @gravizt Your correct. Spiders release a small length of web to let the wind catch them so they can live in a different place. A Spider would have thousands of babies.

  • I have another theory. I read an article a while back that a certain type of spider would spin about a foot of web and let the wind catch it, so the spider would fly off to a new location. It may seam unlikely, but its true. What would happen to most of the web however, is that it would fall to the ground, covering large areas with web. If you google it i'm sure you'll find something.

  • I just read the description tho!! The wolf spiders did this to protect their new born babies....it must be like a colony of them x_x. Do they migrate or something XD??? LoL like spawning salmon XD..Or they just all met in the same place and all had the same idea..? That's crazy....cuz that takes A LOT of spiders x_x. I'm gonna look that up now LOL. I know those little dome web building spiders (cant think of the name) live in colonies but I didnt think wolf spiders did O: ..NEAT and scary :s

  • Can we sayyyyyyyyy....Over populated XD!?!?!?!?!?!?

    They've been SUPER busy LOL.

It's bad enough accidentally walking into one web -.-

Imagine accidentally walking into THAT!! All 3 acres of it x_x.

  • Thank You!
