  • The two girls are Lucy and Polly, aren't they?

Anybody knows what is the name of this song? 'Cause I want to look for the lyrics, but I don't know which is it.

    Thank you!

Oh, I think this part is great, I love Macheath's and Polly's duett - Over the hills...

    Thanks for Ponto

    Bonnie

  • @bonniewayfarer You're welcome, Bonniewayfarer. Yep, Polly Peachum and Lucy Lockit. The song they sing is "Hither, Dear Husband, Turn Your Eyes" (Air 52). Lockit sings "You'll Think ere Many Days Ensue" (Air 32). Macheath sings his medley of songs, starting with "Oh, Cruel, Cruel Case" (Air 58). Google Books has the book of the opera, with lyrics, online.

  • @ponto Thank you very very much!!!

I heard one song from the opera in a film ( Emma - Over the hills...) and then I want to see and listen the original. I love it. Thanks again.

  • @bonniewayfarer Glad to help. By the way, this version of "Beggar's Opera" is finally available on DVD, nicely remastered - it looks great. I highly recommend it.

  • I loved this a lot.Can the whole film be put up on youtube?

  • I kind of doubt it, Poldark - the copyright owners would probably be a bit concerned if it showed up in its entirety on Youtube. Glad you liked the excerpt, though.
