If they both have a reasonable IQ, perhaps paired with a solid education, are both mentally and emotionally sane and stable humanists, had a healthy religious, spiritual or atheist experience, and have an acceptable occupation and/or an adequate amount of financial resources, race or religion shouldn't necessarily be a key-factor.
