West Forsyth High School traveled from Metro Atlanta to Savannah Georgia to compete in the 2010 MATE Underwater ROV Competition. Their goal was to complete tasks emulating what might need to be done around the Loihi Seamount off the coast of Hawaii. Their ROV, or remotely operated vehicle, was made out of PVC and used marine motors to propel itself through the water. The vertical movement of the ROV was accomplished through a ballast system, comprised of compartments that could be filled with air or water to make the ROV rise and fall in the water. Because the rules prohibited looking at the ROV from the control station, they viewed the ROV's surroundings through two consumer FishTV cameras. The ROV was controlled through the use of a cRIO control system, programmed with LabVIEW. The team operated the ROV with an Xbox360 controller.

They placed 1st for ROV Design and 2nd for their poster that described the team and its goals.
