@ZootInNH Vaughn Wilton Monroe (October 7, 1911 – May 21, 1973) this song has been covered many many times...KFJC played amany different versions of this song.
This version was issued in Europe - but it was hastily withdrawn in the US and the ending CHANGED. The reason? Vaughn Monroe was a major shareholder in RCA!
My childhood was delightfully warped by listening over and over to a 10-inch 78 (rpm for younger readers) which had Wild Bill Hiccup on the B side. I didn't know the original that the City Slickers were sending up, but enjoyed it none the less.
@ADJ30168 If you look, the title of the album is 'Murders them All'. It's MEANT to sound horrid because it's a parody. Spike was very successful in his day.
