  • @cezardoborn I've heard that. I wish they would put as much research into making manuals better and more efficient than automatics, as a manual will always be cooler, even if not as efficient.

  • @SakoTGrimes test have shown that automatic these days give better mpg....it's a fact....7 speed auto is and will always be more efficient when compared to a 6 speed manual tranny

  • 44mpg? Weak! "Clean" Diesel? Uh, that would be a pre-2004 running veg oil. Automatic? Hope that's his girlfriend's car.

  • It's a shame that diesel is not refined as much in America, as it is in the UK and Australia. That is the only reason gasoline/electrics are outselling TDI's in the US, and diesels are outselling hybrids in Europe. Can't please all of the people, all of the time....

  • men with that accent sound gay, girls sound hot

  • @sportsaddict1942 Glow plugs only aid the starting of the engine when it's cold, and that's it.

  • God the new Jetta is so ugly compared to this model

  • @amadeus696969 4in exhaust turbo back, home hacked ECU and reprogrammed to run efficient at low RPM's but also run big power at higher RPM's. A VGT turbo running 12 psi and a larger fuel pump and injectors, rebuilt transmission so 3rd gear is a 1:1 ratio and 4-6 are all overdrives and a 2.69:1 final drive. I was trying to hit the 100mpg mark and still have a powerful car, I'm almost there, just gotta find 5 more MPG's. And if it helps its a 2010 Sportswagen, manual. I live In Arizona.

  • @adamslurch71 210/345 on the mk6 golf tdi? wats ur upgrades and where r u from? Most ive seen from ecu chips here in north america claim 185/295. I understand catbacks don't do much so im assuming by full exhaust you mean turbo back. Those numbers are really impressive.

  • I have a Passat tdi 66kw 1994 wagon with 280.000 km on it.

My best fuel efficency i have reached is 1700 km with 73 litres.

    4.29 L / 100km.

    On daily city driving I do 4.9L - 5.1L / 100km.

And i still have it and I love it.

    :).

  • Have a 06'tdi Bug and the best I got in city/highway is 40-41.never changed glow plugs and has 100,000+ miles on engine.....Changing plugs this week and hope to see better mpg...Any other tips out there?

  • @adamslurch71 I think your numbers are exaggerated. Prove it

  • @sausagenmuff Yep, with enough know how and money you can do more then that as well. I have seen a Jetta stock block, all internals are aftermarket, but it mad 400ish HP and just over 800 ftlbs torque. it was insane, it got like 12 mpg but it was designed as a race car not a street car.

  • @adamslurch71

HOt Dam, you have 350 ft of torque coming out of a 2 liter?

  • I have gotten up to 95 mpg driving cross country, but that with transmission work to make 4-6 gear more of an overdrive, and a final gear change to help with fuel efficiency. best tank milage so far is 1385 miles. it also has a 4in full exhaust and a rework ecu, for a good 210 hp and about 345lbft torque. its a great car I dont know why more people dont buy them.

  • Yeah I often average 48-49mpg in my 2010TDI

  • When it's warm out I can easily get 50 mpg with my TDI.

  • poor boom mic guy :/

  • pretty bad commercial. but atleast it follows the "honesty" principle of a vw ad

  • cool, but all of those things are pretty obvious to your everyday tdi driver.

  • What up Dave Jurca? Amazing racer. Almost won the whole series.
