i think it´s disturbing because of the coldness the men treat their slaves, extinguishing everything that´s human from them. You have compassion for the slaves, even though you don´t know anything about them, you see them as human beeings, who are struggeling for some salvation. And it´s sad to see the men so untouchable, not feeling any guilt and empathy, keeping torturing them, not giving them any chance to survive. i don´t think the graphical parts make it disturbing, but the mental abuse of them

@richardm123uk Care to explain? From where I am standing, you are doing nothing but throwing insults with nothing to back them up.
Maybe I should explain my reviewing criteria. It's real simple. The one thing I look for over all else in the movies I review is whether or not the film was entertaining. Salo failed to entertain me. Thus, I felt the need to explain it. No amount of supposed symbolism or faux depth is going to save it from being a waste of two hours in my eyes.

You need to watch Gasper Noe's Irreversible (very disturbing). Also, I heard Marian Dora's Angel's Melancholy is the most disturbing film ever made.

You should review: Schramm, into the mind of a serial killer

I'll agree with the lack of blood in the circle of blood, I payed 40bucks for the dvd. LOL love that ending

one of my favorites, love the ending.

can you watch this whilst eating pistachio ice cream??

Sorry, but this film is NOT eraserhead. It isn't artistic, it isn't interesting, it's just gore exploitation for the sake of shock.

Why are we all trying to make you sick on camera? Seems you have alot of sadistic cruel subscribers Hellsing. My sympathy for you and lets hope for your sake you don't get sick on camera at least anytime soon.
Also why would anyone want to watch this is beyond my comprehension.

stevelovesguitars makes a good point about the movie's psychological effect,i remember when i saw it in 96 i felt sorry 4 the victims.this movie shows you what happens when power and pervertion goes out of control.
If Pasolini made exploitation movies, so Cronenberg too is an exploitation director, you grease ball.

@Nostalgico80 I never said there was anything wrong with making exploitation movies. Hell, I enjoy quite a few exploitation movies. I said that Pasolini made a shitty (no pun intended) exploitation movie.
Also... grease ball? Really? I can honestly say no one has ever said that about me. So, I will have to give you props for that.

You should know that not all movies are to entertain...some movies (salo enters in that type of movies) criticize their own government, giving metaphores in the movie...I think that you should "review" hamburguers or fast food restaurants instead of films, since you know nothing
CA90 2 months ago
@CA90 So, if the movie is criticizing the government, it is excused from making itself entertaining? How do you figure?
Logic would dictate that if you wanted your message to be seen, you would make it somewhat entertaining. Otherwise, your criticisms will go unseen because your movie is garbage.
I think you should try this again. Give me a better excuse to explain this movie's failings.

this guy is really stupid. He doesn't appreciate or understand artistic films. He should stick to reviewing movies like captain america, or hulk.
myonlynickjonas 3 months ago
@myonlynickjonas So, I should stick to reviewing movies I haven't seen? Well, at least you nailed the gimmick of this series.
Also, I don't give a crap if a film is "artistic". In this series, I look at one simple thing. I look at whether or not the movie is entertaining to watch. Salo failed to entertain, and I gave my reasons why I thought so. What's so bad about that?
