This is from Leonard Cohen Live and Rare. I don't quite know where it was recorded, my guess is Germany sometime in the 1970s. The beginning is from an interview he did a few years back. The photos were taken from Cohen's recent tour ( Toronto June 7th 2008 ) Photos of Sedona, Arizona. I added this song for others to enjoy, the photos are just something for fun while you're listening.

  • Thanks for posting this. I'm stuck in this freezing cold city of Chicago, dreaming of being in AZ right now.

  • I'm in Maryland. These were taken over the summer

  • I've been listening to Leonard Cohen since 1977. I would not have believed this if I hadn't heard it! Thanks!

  • Knowing that Leonard Cohen would sing this great song at a concert increases my respect for him. Perhaps he is indeed an individual artist.

  • @TahoeLegend Thanks for sharing ...

  • Très perso comme d'habitude mais créatif et une voix...

  • That IS rare. I'm surprised to see Cohen doing Red River Valley.

Cohen is best known as a great song writer and he is, but he is also one of the best guitar players around.

Find a video on her entitled Opening of McCabe And Mrs Miller. He wrote the music for the film, some of the greatest ever written for any film, and his music plays over the opening credits, including a beautiful solo about 25 bars long.

  • Jigaboo...perhaps you might consider adding "in my opinion" to your negative remarks about Mr. Cohen's singing. Many knowledgable music people think he's quite wonderful. Why compare him to anyone else? Many beloved singers don't have what one would call a trained voice, but we loved them all...Louis Armstrong, Janis Joplin, and of course, Mr. Leonard Cohen, among many, many others.

  • I can't believe Cohen would even do this song,, hillbilly

  • Nice montage but his singing sucks. Marty Robbins, Jo Stafford Kriss Isaac and Stevie Nicks, Raul Malo all do it much better.

  • great stuff. this was my dads song and he died couple of years ago! am off to see leonard cohen in Dublin this week.

  • Yeah, really nice song and vid....thank you. I like him singing Tennessee Waltz as well.
