Drag racing the Omni GLH SRT4

First time I've ever gotten a chance to see myself drag racing. These are 3 of the runs I made on Friday May 8th, 2009. I'm running 8psi of boost, E85 for fuel, MegaSquirt is running my 2.4L DOHC motor. I REALLY have a traction problem in 1st and 2nd. The last car I ran against really threw me off, I normally baby my gas in 1st and 2nd to keep the tires connected. I couldn't hear anything but that loud thing, I was quite happy when he ran off and left me to myself. hehehe

sounds like you need taller gears dude or a custom built tranny then you would have "the silver bullet" lol

Yup, blew up the 3.50fd trans right after installing the turbo. Could only find a 3.85fd trans to put in it's place. Will be running a 3.50fd with a helical LSD next season.

What tranny you running?? I got a 101 at 13.9 with my SRT-4. prolly 250whp

Traction problems at take off?

It's an A523 with a 3.85fd out of a '90 Caravan. Definitely has traction problems, almost has to idle through 1st, half throttle in 2nd, then finally I can flip the high boost switch and go WOT in 3rd and 4th. I go through the traps at the top of 4th around 7grand..

Sweet dude, 1st time ever seeing an omni at the strip, lol. Schooled some Hondas though, wish i coulda seen the looks on there faces... I think the crx gave up, 78 in the 1/4, wtf??

Ya know, I thought so too, but I saw him run a couple more times, and he was consistantly running high 17's.. Probably just there for fun, like me, really. :) He probably whooped up on the Ford Focus's that I saw there the week before.

These Omni's can't get traction no matter what ya do... save a rear drive setup that is...

14.5 on 8 psi...and blaming it on traction lol. Dont go 8psi without increasing traction? IE R-comps in at least 255's...Also seriously shitty take offs. Your car is well capable of taking a full second off those times...

Real traction problems! I got a 13.6@102.5 in my 05 srt-4 with about 18 psi in the factory BFG's. Truck scale showed my srt at 2880lbs

On the loud car's just sit there and let em leave, your RT doesn't really matter when your just doing test and tune anyway. Its annoying as hell when they put your street car up against an open header race car and you can't hear WTF is going on.
