How to catch some 50 fruit flies in 100 minutes.

Recipe: Equal amounts of water and any WHITE vinegar (red will not work - I don't know why, maybe it's the colour). Add to this just a few drops of detergent to reduce surface tension.

  • Good job choosing the music to go with this!

  • That's Wagner's Ride of the Valkyrie. I go bananas with that music.

  • why add water (and dilute the vinegar)?

  • I want to spend as little money and effort on those bastards as possible. If you do it with cheap white vinegar, I suppose you don't have to dilute it. I usually use my homemade cidervinegar, which I make from my home made apple cider. Lots of work behind! Therfore - dilution :D

  • I've been catching flies with my bare hands since age of 4... i win. Them motherfuckers dont stand a chance against my lightning fast insectiod ass kicking techniques! BOOYAH

  • I've been able to catch fruit flies without killing them by putting vinegar in a cup, putting plastic wrap over the cup, held in place by a rubber band, and punching small holes in the cup with a wooden skewer. For some reason, they can get in, but generally can't figure out how to get out.

  • I need live fruit flies for my little praying mantises -_- not drown flies xD

  • @twilghtlover131 you can put a banana peel in a jar and cover the top with a peice of plastic and poke holes then put elastic on it (to make it tight ) they will crawl in and not able to come out

  • @snazzqueen Because, as we all know, fruit flies are an endangered species, thus requiring an intensive catch and release program. Kidding.

  • ahhh I need some for a project. I dont want to kill them though :/

  • Thanks so much for posting this!! I got to deal with these little bastards recently due to a rotten plant. I threw away the plant but they did not follow it to the garbage lol I have tried so far with red wine vinegar cos its way cheaper but tomorrow first thing gonna buy the cider one. They get my respect cos they are damn smart and I like smartness but I do want them to die or leave peacefully to another rotten place haha

  • hahahaha I feel so evil doing this, but also happy, cause i hate them. So its a good evil >:))

  • fruit fly-"hey! you guys are having a pool party? can I join?!"

    dead fruit flies- ...........

    fruit fly- Yay! thank you! *hops in glass* "wait..i dont know how to swim.." -.-;

    Rofl! XD

  • @molekylmartin Lol '' on those bastards as possible'' haha Thanks for the recipe I want to know what kind of detergent do you use ? Dish, laundry ?

  • I've put out a dish with vinegar, and it has killed 4, but none of the others are going in.

I think they've seen their friends die, and don't want to join them.

Come on little flies, the water's warm. Why don't you come for a swim? evil laugh...
