The quinn river is a temptress!! She is unpredictable!!

For those interested, I've heard it reported that the playa is harder packed than it's been in a decade.

Metric, hi! Are u sure that was a "lake" and not the Quinn river sink? I know you posted gps coordinates, were you near here: "The playa's Quinn River Sink of ~3 sq mi (7.8 km2) is where the Quinn River discharges/evaporates ~2.75 miles (4.43 km) south-southwest of Black Rock Hot Springs." (source: wiki)

@metricdpw Doesn't that portend fluffy playa conditions?

BM could do an event where they try to get awarded in Guinness Book of World Records for the largest mud wresting event. I'll be the first to sign up

@Rustyjello it appears to happen often enough to leave trail evidence in the dry bed. look closer at the "fingers" stretching outward into the existing trails or previous flows
1. more rain means harder playa, not fluffy.
2. "The lake" and the "Quinn River Sink" are ostensibly interchangeable terms, in my mind. The question would be whether the water came from Quinn River discharge, or precipitation, or both. This was not 2.75 miles from Black Rock, more like 15 - 20 miles, so call it what you will.

The lake has already receded quite a bit, and never quite made it to the event site.
