This is the second part in the 3 part tutorial, this is the longest by far but it still maintains maximum quality because of youtube's new 15 minute time limit :)

Anyways, this part will go over importing the tracking data into 3ds max, adding materials, text/objects, lights, etc. And The render out of 3ds max.

  • not the best tutorial as you said...

first of all, sun is direct light not spotlight

next, you need special passes instead of just a footage with alpha

and last one, wrong position of the fill light

just helping out people not to learn wrong stuff.

over all nice and simple tutorial showing how to use boujou with 3ds max.

  • @MortallicA91

well, thanks for the feedback, it always helps.

    uh

technically sun is an omni light lol, but it doesn't make that much of a difference as long as it's placed properly

i have absolutely no idea why special passes are needed

3rd i didn't really think about it, but thanks.

  • thank you so much man.now all i need to know is that how do i mask walls or people blocking infront of the text??thanks again.you're really helpful

  • @PowerOnWheels i'll have a tutorial about that next week hopefully, before that try this.

In boujou click on the poly mask tool in the tools to the left

on the first frame you see something you want untracked, mask it

move to the last frame and mask it again

go inbetween and mask the frames until its covered for the whole animation

they can be ROUGH masks, do not spend an hour per frame, it should take 20 seconds per frame maximum

it will automatically see the mask and wont track inside the mask

  • It works now. Thank you so much. I did use your advice.

  • @hustlin2osix no problem, i remember it happened to me when I used it and I think i might've mentioned it in one of the videos to use 4.

  • hey dude

In the 00:18 of the video, when you put the boujou track to the 3D max, the tracks points isn't correct on the grid of Max, and then you fix this problem...

How did you fix that ? I got this problem, and I hope you help me, thanks.

  • it is ( ms ) file but 3ds max requires (max) file WHY???? plzzzz help!!!!

  • my 3ds max 11 cant open file from boujou ??? why plzz help!!!

  • @grimripper1415 WTF ! me too

  • my background wont show?? help please??

  • my background wont show?? help please??

  • thanks man, this tutorial basically saved my ass. i started with absolutely no idea how to use either of these three programs, now ive got a starting point to build on.

  • @HDxPower if it comes up with an error message, all you have to do is find the bold text in the error and at the end there is a parenthesis. if you delete that parenthesis, click out of the error and then make sure you hit save. then open the file again in 3ds max and it should work

  • @TreLrZzProductions Mine is the same. I think its a problem with boujou though
