This is a pictorial on how to get a toshiba laptop to boot again.
The fault was, Shows the toshiba logo, then a white cursor on a black screen.
This unit is an L300, though the fault is common on many toshiba laptops.
The cause is a corrupted bios setting memory, and can only be rectified by the removal of a hard to reach and soldered in place bios battery. Remove the battery and the problem goes away, Watch the video.

Hold down the Fn button(bottom left hand corner?) and F5 button for 10 seconds together while running the computer, then take out the battery with the ac power unplugged(while the computer is still running), then wait for a minimum of 3 minutes, then put the battery back in and try it.

I see tosheba but I have a emachean tower sorry for spelling but same problem boot up log in emachean logo on screen then gos black with a - at the left top of screen plz plz help

Hello, my A215 goes black but after loging on, only shows cursor...any advice on how I can fix it??please help!!

toshiba l305d, same problem, after logo , and a cursor then went totally blank , already tried to desolder the bios batter, didn't work, finally, went to toshiba site, downloaded the lasted bios file specially for my laptop, copy to the root of usb flash drive , press Fn+f, wait for the computer to turn off and reboot , sweet, fix it ........ anyway, thank u for your advice!!!! two thumbs up ...

@SamoanBugs lift or push out slightly the brown retainers. slide the cables in than slide or push down the retainer to lock the cable it.
