I made this three wheeled robot in my last year of tech. school. I ended up making my own chassis out of a Radioshack project box, some aluminum pieces, and a clear plastic piece from an old Boombox CD player. I also designed my own circuit board and etched it in the tanks at school. The motors are servos hacked for continuous rotation. The wheels are modified RC car wheels and a ball bearing caster used for shelving units. The avoidance sensors [4] are Infrared SHARP GP2D12's and the ledge sensors [2] are also Infrared but are OPB704's. The purpose of my robot is simple: to avoid obstacles and drops. I named this robot Shadow Guide.

  • @krupasubhashini What info are you looking for specifically?

  • can i ask the LED's you have on the front what did you use them for ?

  • @shaquillec1 I mostly just used them for BLFNARs but I also used them to indicate which sensor was triggered, green for the front sharp sensors, red for side, and blue for the edge sensors.

  • hey there great job on this robot, small question... im working on a robot but having a hard time finding a good strong SMOOTH ball caster, what ur using looks smooth and great can u plz tell me where did u get this one from thanks

  • @gmsemaan thanks, yeah finding a good caster is definitely a struggle sometimes, The caster I used wasn't all that smooth but it was strong, i found it a hardware store, i forget which one. Anyway I would highly recommend the casters from Pololu, we sell them at Solarbotics -> just search for caster, we had had good luck with the 3/4" sized casters.
