DML Conference 2011: Designing Learning Futures (danah boyd)

Communication and media expert Howard Rheingold interviews danah boyd about the themes and aspirations of the 2011 Digital Media and Learning Conference in Long Beach, CA, Mar. 3-5, 2011.

A social scientist at Microsoft Research and a research associate at Harvard University's Berkman Center for Internet and Society, boyd is on the conference committee, and is chair of a special conference track on "Emerging Platforms and Policies."

Asked to describe the purpose of the Emerging Platforms and Policies track, danah replied: "There's a lot of amazing technology that's come out...and people are sort of struggling to make sense of it...The point of this track is to really examine what happens with these new emerging technologies, how are people engaging with them, and what are the big struggles or challenges we have to think about."
