One of the first spoken movies in German cinema and actually the first spoken movie of the famous German UFA. It premiered in December 1929 starring those days teenage idol Willy Fritsch and Dita Parlo. Produced in several versions (German, English, French, Hungarian, silent) it became a worldwide success. Director of the original movie was Hanns Schwarz. The song "Bin kein Hauptmann, bin kein großes Tier" which is featured throughout the whole original movie was composed by Paul Abraham and performed by Willy Fritsch. It became a big hit at that time as well.
