omg..that was great preformance. she put the life in this song.. just looking into her eyes and listening to her singing..make me completely understand and deeply feel for the character she is playing.. I do not know anything about that Les miserables show though..lol..

I'm dreading Anne Hathaway taking on Fantine for the film version, they should have cast a seasoned and experienced singer.
-
her miss saigon training served her well...she hit the low notes and did not have difficulty transiting to the high notes. Superb performance, only by the Great Lea Salonga!

The last note makes me want to cry.
Its so beautiful but sad.

Of all the performers that have performed Fantine's characters, only Lea is the best one at hitting the the lower notes I think. Sure, all of them can do the high notes and it's probably what they practice throughout their entire singing career but their voice tend to get lost hitting the low notes. Not Lea.

She always brings tears to my eyes.
Wow... This video captures so much more of the nuances in lea's voice that separates her as a singer and stage actress... you won't hear those nuances from the others that will remain unmentioned here. Just as an example, she builds up the lines "But the tigers come at night with their voices soft as thunder.. as they tear your hopes apart." and the way she extends those notes to infinity. She is definitely the biggest asset of Les Miz that's why they took her back from Eponine to Fantine.

This is what angels must sound like. One of my favorite songs from Les Mis.
